Kanhaiya Kumar is leading a massive rally right before the electoral campaign for his constituency ends. Hundreds and hundreds of young men and women are walking and dancing in a carnival of red flags. The torches on their mobile phones are lit and seen together, it seems like a rock concert audience is on the move. While Kanhaiya walked in the rally when it began, he soon jumped up on a tempo converted into a campaign vehicle. Soon he had the red scarf, synonymous with Begusarai but also the colour of his party, around his neck. When someone threw him a blue scarf, he wrapped it around his head too. A young campaigner behind him shouted ‘Jai Bhim, Lal Salaam’ as if on cue. Incidentally, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar’s statue lay ahead. If he approved, he didn’t show it.
